Founded in 1826, UCL was the first English university established after Oxford and Cambridge; the first to admit students regardless of race, class, religion or gender; and the first to provide systematic teaching of law, architecture and medicine. In the Government’s most recent Research Assessment Exercise, most UCL departments achieved top ratings of 5* and 5, indicating research quality of international excellence.
Centre for Systems Engineering - UCLse
The UCL Centre for Systems Engineering (UCLse) seeks to advance the state-of-the-art in systems engineering. We work internationally in education, training, research and technology transfer.
Aims
The aim of the centre is to use expertise from across UCL to form a centre of excellence for research, education/training and technology transfer. We seek to advance the state-of-the-art in the field. We do this by:
Providing a focus for systems engineering research, education, training and technology transfer within UCL.
Acting as a first point of contact for industry and other external organisations seeking to take advantage of UCL expertise in systems engineering
Supporting the development of a coherent and industrially relevant research and education programme in systems engineering
Engaging with systems engineering activities within UCL and promoting maturity of systems engineering practice
Supporting transfer of research in systems engineering into active and productive use
UCLse provides multi-disciplinary teams, drawn from the pool of world-class academics and researchers from departments throughout UCL, to tackle difficult systems engineering issues that are industrially focused.
UCLse's range of courses provides individual and corporate development in Systems Engineering skills. Whether you wish to just brush up on an area of Systems Engineering or plug a skills gap in your engineering staff's capability or wish to pursue a career as a Systems Engineer, UCLse's courses range from short bespoke one-to- five day Continuing Professional Development courses to full Master of Science programmes.
Bursaries for 2009-2010:
Recently, our group (The Centre for Systems Engineering at UCL) has secured government funding to provide bursaries for our training courses. The bursaries are available for 2009-2010 only and are intended to help people to add new skills in this period of financial insecurity. The bursaries are available to delegates on individual short courses which can be taken stand alone or as Modules as part of an MSc in Systems Engineering Management (click here to see attached flyer).
